The Moot Court Society is the student committee entrusted with the responsibility of administering mooting activities and upholding the high standards of excellence that the Vivekananda law College has set itself. Mooting as an activity can perhaps best be described as the closest one comes to being a lawyer while still in law school – it involves identifying legal issues in situations, exhaustive research in that area of law, followed by extensive written submissions and grueling orals before a bench of eminent judges – in short, everything a lawyer is expected to do.
The academic year 2010-11 was an excellent one for the VLC in terms of mooting. In the National Moot court Competition held at R.L.Law College, Belgaum our team, Ms. Shruthi Shetty, Ms.Nikhila Janardhan Rai and Mr. Krishna Raj broke through to eventually making it to the Quarter-final stage of the competition. In the National Triple Advocacy Competition our students, Mr. Naveen, Mr.Sathyanarayan and Ms. Madhura performed admirably, finishing among the top few teams in the various competitions.
