Principals Desk

Dear Readers,

I am happy and proud to greet you all.

PrincipalThis institution was established in 1988 with aim of providing quality legal education, on par with excellent standards. Earlier we were affiliated to Mangalore University and after establishment of Law University we are affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi. In our pursuit of excellence, we persistently seek and adopt innovative methods to improve the quality of education as well as life on campus.  The highly motivated youngsters on the campus are a constant source of encouragement and pride for us.  We are proud that our youngsters are achievers in academic, sports, and cultural activities and also in other activities conducted on campus. Congratulations to them.

Education has always been a cornerstone of society, the pillar on which the bulwark of human existence rests. While the art and science of legal education may have undergone changes since the time of yore, every educationist strives to instill in every student a sense of virtue and wisdom, sensitivity to the needs of others, the skills, the attitudes and habits that would help them to explore and excel, a quest for knowledge and the power of action. All of these would be necessary to achieve the goal of excellence. Our students’ are inspiring, challenging and stimulating and are enjoying opportunities and a positive environment on campus. We want each one of our students to follow their bliss, blaze new trails and open new doors. I am proud of the parents and teachers, who care, nurture and reassure the students so that they grow into more mature, sensitive and responsible citizens of our country. It is our duty to salute the mother institution VIVEKANANDA VIDYAVARDHAKA SANGHA PUTTUR® for encouraging and supporting.

As I walk down the hallways of the campus everyday, I can hear the chatter of eager minds and the sound of melodious voices harmonizing. The perpetual energy, movement and enthusiasm permeate the atmosphere at Vivekananda Law College, Puttur. We value individualism, creativity and innovation and strive to nurture them in our students.

We aim not to just impart knowledge to the students, but also to inculcate in them – wisdom, compassion and humanitarian spirit. We seek to develop and nurture the different facets of a student. The Institution encourages all students to participate in a variety of co-curricular activities, variety of sports, social work and environmental conservation activities, etc. It is important for a student to explore and find their strengths in order to reach their true potential. Whether a student is an introvert or extrovert, our aim is to nurture the student into a self-confident individual. We think about how to engage students and hold their attention.  Discipline, values and integrity are the very foundation of this college.

Law is the king of kings; nothing is superior to law; the law aided by the power of the king enables the weak to prevail over the strong. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan observes- “Even Kings are Subordinate to Dharma, the Rule of Law.”

With this in our mind we continuously upgrade our academic tools and techniques as well as our academic programmes. In a technology prevalent world today, we appeal to young minds to incorporate new devices into the teaching-learning process. Our mission is to continue to do what we have always done: develop this college and the students with integrity and values; also, to give our students the best opportunities and the best all-round education producing conscientious, smart and confident citizens of India and make us proud!

Ahimsa (non-violence), Satya (truthfulness), Asteya (non-coveting the property of others), Shoucham (purity), and Indriyanigraha (control of senses) are, in brief, the common Dharma for all. (Manu Smriti-63). We must ensure to practice it and make others to follow.

Being a teacher of Law we convey the message for all concern:

धर्म एव हतो हन्ति धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः |
तस्माद्धर्मो न हन्तव्यः मा नो धर्मो हतोऽवधीत्  ||
                                                                      – मनुस्मृति VIII-15

“Dharma protects those who protect it. Those who destroy Dharma get destroyed. Therefore Dharma should not be destroyed so that we may not be destroyed as a consequence thereof.”

As Vivekananda said, ‘Be a Hero. Always say, I have no fear’. Our law students and graduates must have and show the courage to protect Dharma and become heroes.

I assure that our Institution is always a temple of learning, where there is “equal opportunities to all to rise to their fullest potential”. With steady steps, we have crossed 28 years of service. We look forward to welcoming you to this academic community.

“Where there is a will, there is a way; prove your strength and assure the justice; always thinking and working for YOUR SUCCESS”

30th May 2016, PUTTUR
