A guest lecture was organized at Vivekananda Law College Moot Court hall on the topic ‘Rights of Transgender Persons’ on 01/07/2023.
Smt. Sharika, Assistant Professor of Law at S.D.M Law College, Mangalore was the Resource person.
Speaking on the Transgender Persons’ (Protection of Rights) Act 2019 first she explained the various definitions used to describe the transgender and later mentioned Constitution provisions which provides protection to transgender in the areas of employment, reservation, succession Rights and applicability of criminal liability . Highlighting the loopholes, she said that there are no enough number of legislations or the statutes to safeguard their rights.
