“Aatida Les”- celebration of Aati Festival  

Student Council of Vivekananda Law College organized a traditional programme named “Aatida Les” on 23/07/2022 at College Auditorium.

Chief Guest Prof. Subbappa Kaikamba, An Assistant Professor of Commerce at Government First Grade College, Balmata inaugurated Aatida Les programme and spoke about the traditional significance of Aati. He said that Aati is a month in Tulu Calendar with traditional significance. It normally comes in the months of July and August. As usually there will be a heavy rain during “Aati”, it is a time for farmers to take rest after sowing rice seed in the paddy field. He also mentioned about Aatikalanja, a ritualistic folk dance which will be performed during this month.

The member of Governing Council Smt.Prameetha C Haas presided over the programme. She said that there is a strong connection between the nature and human based on season, food, culture and practices. The practices associated with this month are linked to the agricultural practices and change in the climatic condition of the coastal region.

College Principal Smt. Akshatha A.P , Student Welfare Officer Dr. Rekha K, N.S.S Officer Sri Laksmikantha A, President of Student Council Nishan S.R, Secretary Shushruth Sudhir Urwa, Joint Secretary Savinaya N.S were present.

Students performed varieties of traditional cultural activities during the occasion.
