Guest lecture on the topic ‘Jurisdiction of Supreme Court and High Court’

A Guest Lecture on the topic ‘Jurisdiction of Supreme Court and High Court’ was organized at Vivekananda Law College Conference hall 22/08/2023.

Dr. B. K. Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, addressing the student community said that The Supreme Court has been given a wide range of jurisdiction and power under the Constitution. The jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of India can broadly be categorized into original jurisdiction, appellate jurisdiction and advisory jurisdiction where as the jurisdiction of high courts is outlined in Article 226 and 227 of the Indian Constitution. Article 226 of the Indian Constitution provides for the power of High Courts to issue writs as well as Article 32 provides the power of High Court to issue writs before the Supreme Court.

Mr. Nachiketh Shastry of IIBALLB welcomed the gathering. Miss Seemanthini of IIBALLB proposed vote of thanks. Students of I BALLB and II BALLB students attended the guest lecture.
