Inauguration of Student Council 2021-22 and release of Annual Journal

Inauguration of Student Council 2021-22 and release of Annual Journal was held at Vivekananda Law College on 14 /02/2022.

Sri Manohar K.V. Advocate and President of Puttur Bar Association inaugurated the programme.

Speaking at the inauguration of Student Council for the Academic year 2021-22 Sri Manohar K.V Advocate and President of Puttur Bar Association said that student council plays an integral part in assorting various curricular, co curricular and other extension activities of college. Hence it is helpful to instill leadership skills in students. We can see a number of student representatives who are involved in student council activities in college have occupied high positions in their professional life. Vivekananda Law College provides students with such a good foundation by giving ample opportunities.

Sri. Shivanand Perla, Public Prosecutor of CBI, ACB Bangalore released Legal Spectrum-Volume III’ during the occasion. Addressing the gathering he said that Advocacy is a noble profession. Lawyers have their own respect in society. There is an increasing commercialization of work of lawyers as the legal profession is tending to sell its services rather than rendering services. That is why during formative years law students must focus on knowing the basics of law subjects viz . IPC, CPC, Cr.PC and Law of Evidence. The fundamental aim of legal ethics is to uphold the honour and dignity of the legal sphere, ensuring the spirit of friendly cooperation, mutual and fair dealing of counsel with clients, and to secure lawyers’ responsibilities to society. There are some fundamental principles that constitute the essence of legal ethics. These include diligence and dedication, professionalism, uprightness and integrity, personal development, and the impact of technology on professional ethics and the general practice of law.

Smt. Leelavathi. K ., Retired Teacher was felicitated for her 39 years’ of service to the field of education. She was honoured for her contribution of Sanitary Napkin Destroyer to the Institution.

Speaking on the occasion she said that the general and first role of a teacher is to teach their students and motivate them and boost their confidence .Success of a teacher lies in the recognition she gets from the students even long after retirement. She advised the student community to educate themselves how to cope with failure and learn from mistakes and not to take extreme steps when things go the wrong way.

Sri. Shivananda Perla, Public Prosecutor of CBI, ACB Bangalore was also being felicitated during the occasion.

Dr. B.K Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies in his introductory speech said that the third issue of Legal Spectrum is a scholarly issue containing well researched articles in the area of law and legal subjects contributed by academicians, advocates, students and researchers in law. He stated that writing research articles on legal aspects is worthy for publication and time consuming. Going through the grind of writing a scholarly article after the articles are being published and the author feels the pride for the hard work done by him also for adding extra knowledge to the legal fraternity. He emphasized the importance of reading law journals and the need to update with latest laws and inculcate the advocacy skills, writing skills as well as research skills.

Sri. Vijayanarayana K.M., Correspondent of Vivekananda Law College presiding over the programme overviewed the programme and said that college is a place where future of the student should be formed. Students must focus on developing values and inculcate commitment, devotion, simplicity and sincerity without getting distracted by the unnecessary petty issues of the society.

The president of Student Council Nishan, Secretary Shushruth Sudhir Urva, and Joint Secretary Savinaya along with the class representatives took the oath to work for the progress of the student community in collaboration with staff and management. This was administered by the Students’ Welfare Office Dr. Rekha K.

Sri. Shivanand Perla, Public Prosecutor of CBI, ACB answered queries of the students during interaction with students at the end of the programme.
