Vivekananda Law College celebrated Republic Day on 26th August 2021. Dr. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, President of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Puttur presided over the function. Mr. Aruna Shyam, Additional Advocate General of Government of Karnataka was the Chief Guest. Mr. Vishweshwara Bhat Bangaradka, President, and Sri Aravind V, Treasurer, Governing Council of Vivekananda Law College, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Tholpady, Advocate and Faculty of Vivekananda Law College, Mr. Deepak Bolwar, Secretary, Alumni Association, Mr. Manohar K V, President, Bar Association Puttur, Dr. B.K.Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, Mrs. Akshatha A P, Principal, Vivekananda Law College were present in the function.
The program started with the blessings of the Almighty. The ceremony was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. The principal of Vivekananda Law College welcomed the guest and dignitaries.
Mr. Vishweshwara Bhat Bangaradka in his introductory speech spoke about the theme of the day ‘Prerana’-an inspirational day. Our Institution marked this occasion as an opportunity to felicitate alumni who have been contributing a selfless service to the society .In order to encourage the students to take inspiration from the footsteps of such achievers, he quoted from Swami Vivekananda’s life and philosophy saying that the youth must join hands in the development of society. He mentioned the importance of knowing the constitution and observed how rule of law is embedded in the constitution.
Mr.Aruna Shyam, Additional Advocate General, Government of Karnataka and an Alumnus of Vivekananda Law College, addressed the gathering and cherished his experiences of student life and said that we can achieve success by utilising opportunities that come on our way and by inviting values and ideas of Swami Vivekananda.
The second special event of this day was the release of a book on ‘Law of Evidence’ written by our visiting faculty and Alumnus of Vivekananda Law College Mr.Sudhir Kumar Tholpady. Dr. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat released the book for the benefit of legal fraternity.
Mr. Sudhir Kumar Tholpady said that the book was the fruitful result of the effort put in eighteen years’ teaching experience .He said that three aspects like admission, confession and doctrine of Estoppels which are the hallmark of the book. He wished it to be useful for students as well as for the entire Legal Community as it is the outcome of his knowledge in the field of law. Further, a book on Student Council constitution was released. The book clearly states the composition, working, functions and duties of students’ council.
Apart from this the Student council was inaugurated by administrating the oath and handing over student council constitution to the office bearers of students ‘council.
On this eve of Republic day, winners of different cultural activities were recognised and prizes were distributed.
Dr. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, President, Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha speaking about the importance of the tricolour of the flag said that it is suggestible of the courage and strength of the country where youth has special responsibility on their shoulders in this pandemic situation .Quoting Dr. Abdul Kalam’s vision of India in 2020,he highlighted the important role of youth in the societal development and need for imbibing values and ideas of our culture amidst the diversities where still there is a unity in diversity.
