Vivekananda law college has organized online workshop “significance of clinical course” on 21st September 2020 from 10.00 a.m to 12 p.m. the work shop was addressed by Dr. Sai Ram Bhat, Professor of Law, NLSIU, Bangalore, Dr. B. K. Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, Akshatha A. P. Principal of Vivekananda Law College Were Present.
Prof. Sai Ram Bhat resource person of the program took the motivational session to the students regarding:
- Differentiated law in books and law in action
- Study of law can be compared to the medicine unless a medical students before conducting surgery should have clear knowledge of different parts of the body, similarly a law student should know not only the client case but also the provisions of law to be applied and that he can get a clear knowledge in clinical course
- Bhat explained significance of lawyers emblem. He also gave the example of dog bite on the street and how to fix tortuous liability and the procedure to be followed.
- For clinical course the art of writing petitions, deeds as well as pleadings can be clearly learnt.
- In clinical course the development taking place in law can also be learnt through judicial decisions and how to locate ratio decided
- In clinical course the art of client interviewing and problem solving method will be an added advantage to the students.
- In clinical course the abilities, skills and qualities of a successful lawyer can be inculcated.
- Clinical courses helps to do research, locating precedents in analyzing case laws and mentioned Purushotham and Kharak Singh case regarding right to privacy.
- Clinical course is advantages for students to develop their personality by involving in moot court, mock trial, ADR, legal writing and consultation and legal aid.
- Students if involved with utmost dedication and commitment in these exercises can really become social transformers.
Dr, B.K Ravindra, Director Of Legal Studies summarized the concept of clinical course and instructed the students to understand the difference between law in book and law in action and to be professionals accordingly.
