Orientation for IBALLB and ILLB: A Fresh batch students of Academic Year 2024-25

Day 1: 23/09/2024
Inauguration of the three days’ Orientation programme was held to welcome the fresh batch of IBALLB and ILLB students at Sujnana Deepika auditorium in Vivekananda Law College for the academic year 2024-2025 on 23/09/2024.The objective of this orientation programme was to give information about course structure, life and culture on campus, to impart legal knowledge to fresh batch and to bridge the gap between students and college. The aim was to introduce the basics of legal education to the students prior to the core law classes to assist the transition into Law College.


Sri Raghuraj Ubaradka Education Coordinator,VVS and Prantha Kriyashodh Pramukh of Vidyabharathi , Karnataka inaugurated the programme. Addressing the student community, he focused on the vision and the mission of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha and also Vivekananda Law College which strongly believes in holistic learning. He told the students to give a fresh start to the legal studies by imbibing the value education given by the Institution. He also emphasized the importance of inculcating discipline, commitment, dedication and perseverance in the life of a law student to be a better professional in the future.


Sri Shivaprasad Shetty, President, PTA Vivekananda Law College, addressed the new batch and conveyed a message that learning is a never ending process. He urged the students to see moral values as an integral part of professional life.
Presiding over the programme the correspondent of Vivekananda Law College Governing Council Sri Vijayanarayana K.M. unleashed the wide opportunity of choosing law as a professional course and said that legal education differs from other forms of learning. He also highlighted the need of students to know the value based professional life. He advised the students to focus on understanding fundamentals of the legal education as it is prime need to grow professionally.
Smt.Akshatha A. P, Principal of Vivekananda Law College welcomed the gathering. Dr. B. K. Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies was present during the occasion.

Day 2: 24/09/2024
Session 1:

Sri Mahesh Kaje, Advocate and Senior Public Prosecutor , Mangalore addressed the student community on the topic “ Legal Professions and its responsibilities- A Panoramic View”.He highlighted the significance of all-round development by practicing critical thinking. He addressed the nuances of litigation and extensively spoke on the entrepreneur skills required in a law student. He stressed on making use of the unique opportunities and facilities that college is providing. He also emphasized the importance of research publications in building a resume for internships, placements and masters in law.


Session 2:
Sri Sooryanarayana N.K Advocate from Bar Association of Puttur was a Resource Person. Speaking on the topic “Skills of Advocacy”, he said that law practitioner should have ability to find a way out from the information he gathers collectively from his clients. Establishing trust, good communication skill and writing skill to structure the submissions are required key skills to excel in the profession.


Session 3:
Advocate and Guest Faculty Sri Manohar A briefed the students about code of conduct of college. Explaining the rights, responsibilities and rules governing student conduct at college, he highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standard of behaviour and discipline both inside and outside the college.

Day 3: 25/10/2024
Session 3:

B. K. Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, spoke on the topic “Career opportunities in law” and guided the students on aspect of life after law school and briefed them about the various career opportunities available after the graduation in law. Giving a detailed introduction on the various career options available, he asked the students to gain knowledge of legal fields in order to mould themselves to suit the required areas with vigour. He emphasized on the importance of mastering certain areas of specifications that need to be given utmost importance during the formative years.
Over all, it was a successful programme, and newly oriented students seemed thankful and grateful for being inducted into Law College and highly enthused to begin their five year long journey.
