On 06.08.2019, the Vivekananda Law College had conducted an Orientation Programme for the fresh students who had been admitted for the academic year 2019-20. The main aim of the programme is to acknowledge the students about the institution, career opportunities which are available in the legal field and also the values which are deep rooted in the Institution. To inculcate the values and significance of the legal field the college had organized three different sessions with the resource persons Sri. Sooryanarayana N.K Advocate, Puttur on the topic “Legal Profession- Professional Values”, Sri. Vivekananda Paniyala, Paniyala Associates, Mangalore on the topic “Significance of Legal profession and Opputunities”, Dr. B.K. Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, Vivekananda law College on the topic “Career opportunities in Law”.
Sri. Sooryanarayana N.K, Advocate , Puttur explained the richness of Legal profession and what are all the values have to be inculcated by the students in the profession . The Resource Person shared his own experience in the legal profession with the students and appealed to the students to be dedicated and determined in the profession.
Sri. Vivekananda Paniyala, paniyala Associates, Mangalore emphasized how the students have to keep up their time management and also said to them, even without obtaining the degree, with the permission of the Authority, they can argue in the forums such as consumer Forum, Legal Aid Authority etc., Sri. Paniyala further instructed the students to have the habit of reading newspaper, including the Biography of the eminent persons like, Nani palkhivala, Fali S. Nariman, etc. Sri. Paniyala also gave simple tips to the students to enhance their communication skills, and enlightened the students to refer the important websites such as “Live law, Bar and Bench, SCC. Com, Taxmann. Com” where they get the judgment of recent cases.
Dr. B.K Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies, Vivekananda Law College, had elaborated what are all the career opportunities in Law, which are there in the Legal field, IPR, Alternative Dispute Resolution, banking, Insurance etc.,and how students should groom themselves by cultivating the habit of reading and enhancing the knowledge to reach their respective goals. The Director had also spoke about the era of globalization and how the modern gadgets have to be used for the academic purpose to minimum extent. The Director emphasized the importance of reading the Biographies of world leaders and also he mentioned to go through the books written by famous Advocates of India such as “Roses in December” by M.C Chagla, Former Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, and “Before the Memory Fades” by Fali S. Nariman Senior Advocate of Supreme Court etc.
