On the 4th of October, 2024, students of Vivekananda College of Education conducted a street play entitled “Vinaashada Moola” or the “Source of Destruction” in Sugyana Deepika, auditorium of Vivekananda Law College.
The theme of the play was how humans by virtue of their own destructive habits have not only spoilt the environment but also have led to economic and ecological disasters and have led to the outbreak of various diseases, including COVID 19, which is spreading at a rampant rate. The play, conducted by B.Ed students, strongly emphasized throughout the play that humans are the sole reason of their own destruction.
The programme was presided over by Smt. Akshatha A.P, Principal of Vivekananda Law College. She expressed her gratitude on behalf of the college to the Principal, Staff and Students of Vivekananda College of Education. Talking on the play she spoke about the importance of saving the environment and spoke about the legal aspect about saving the environment, vis a vis the Constitution of India and the Environment Protection Act 1986.
The Chief Guest of the programme, Dr. Shobhita Satish, Principal of Vivekananda College of Education, spoke about the importance of preservation of environment and what role educators and lawyers can play in educating the public on preserving environment, including cleaning the surroundings, reduce-reuse-recycle, reduce plastic consumption. She thanked Vivekananda Law College for giving a platform for their students to perform.
The welcome address, master of ceremony and the vote of thanks was done by Surya, student of V B.A.,LL.B. All teaching and non teaching staff were present.
