International Women’s Day was celebrated by Women’s Cell of Vivekananda Law College on 08/03/2022 at Conference Hall. Smt. Nirmala K Addl. Sr. Civil Judge and JMFC Puttur was chief guest of the programme. Addressing the student community on the topic “Role of Women in Judiciary”, she emphasised the important legislations which give special privileges to women such as Domestic Violence Act, few provisions under Cr. P.C, POCSO Act etc. and also she pointed out that these legislations can be used for only to uphold the rights rather abuse the same. She recalled her days of practicing advocacy and shared her experience and hardships for girls in legal profession. She made an appeal to the students to join legal profession and to step into judicial service. She mentioned that there is no shortcut for success only through hard work success can be achieved.
Sri Manohar K.V, President of Bar Association Puttur, was the Guest of Honour for the International Women’s Day programme. He addressed the students about the importance of women in everyone’s life. He stated that women play a vital role in our lives as daughter, mother, sister, spouse etc. He shared his views that after graduation every student especially girls should start their practice in legal profession. A determined woman with her strong will and determination can overcome obstacles in the career.
Smt.Pramitha. C. Has,Member of Governing Council, Vivekananda Law College gave a presidential address during the occasion. She opined that the men and women are not equal because women possess more roles and responsibility in the society and in the family as well. She further stated that men should understand women by knowing the difficulties which she will be going through. She emphasised the need for women empowerment and importance of education to each and every girl child.
A felicitation was conducted to Smt. Nirmala K Addl. Sr. Civil Judge & JMFC Puttur for being promoted as District and Sessions Judge.
