Workshop on Violation of GST Act, 2017: Arrest without F.I.R. and no grant of Anticipatory Bail- Understanding the Judgement of the Supreme Court”

Vivekananda Law College, Puttur in Association with Mangalore Institute of Law and Management, Mangalore, organised one day seminar on “Violation of G.S.T. Act, 2017: Arrest without F.I.R. and no grant of Anticipatory Bail- understanding the Judgement of the Supreme Court” on 24/08/2019 in the Conference Hall of Vivekananda Law College, Puttur.

The Inaugural note was given by Dr.P.L.Dharma, H.O.D. of Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication of Mangalore University.

Dr.Dharma in his inaugural note spoke on “Are we taxing the tax payers: few philosophical observations Dr.Dharma traced the history of India as to how taxes were collected in early India for the welfare of the people. Paying tax is a value Altruism was with the philosophy of India and an obligation. The state to discharge its obligation and to establish a welfare society revenue generation is a necessity. A state cannot function without revenue and taxpaying is nothing but worshiping God and evasion is a crime. When we expect state to do everything, payment of tax becomes obligatory.

Mr.Colin O Rodrigues F.C.A. explained why G.S.T. and its importance and the Impact G.S.T. has tried to minimise tax and not increased because of one Nation, One Tax. Mr.Colin O Rodrigues emphasised on composite supply and technology. To know G.S.T. knowledge of constitution of India, Indian Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code is a necessity.

Sri Vivekananda Paniyala, Advocate and Corporate Lawyer explained the implication and consequences of the revolutionary Judgement and concluded ‘God Save the Tax payers’.

Sri Vijayanarayana K.M. Correspondent of Vivekananda Law College emphasised on the necessity of paying tax and its impact on Nation Building.

Dr.B.K.Ravindra, Director of Legal Studies Vivekananda Law College Puttur, Prof. Akshatha A.P., Principal of Vivekananda Law College were present and Sri Sadanand expressed his opinion on G.S.T. as the president of the function.
