World Day against Child Labour was conducted at Vivekananda Law College on 19/ 06/2024.
Smt. Sangeetha S.M., A research student of Karnataka Law University Dharwad was the Resource Person. Addressing the law students, she said that a serious action is being taken worldwide to reduce child labour. But over the past few years, conflict, crises and the covid -19 pandemic have plunged more families into poverty and forced millions of children into child labour. There are various enactments made for the protection of child rights. But while implementing the same State is facing en number of obstacles. She also added that it is not only the responsibility of the state but the obligation of society too to relieve the pressure that too many families and communities feel and that makes them resort to child labour.
NSS Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Political Science in his introductory speech highlighted the importance of creating awareness regarding in the society in the eradication of such mean practice.
